What's New in Dynamics 365 for Finance & Operations?

Microsoft does two major releases per year; in October and April. Furthermore, new functionality is also added monthly through updates. With Dynamics 365, all data is easily integrated through the entire Dynamics 365 and Office 365 application portfolio. In this blog we’ll briefly summarize the latest release of Dynamics 365 for Finance & Operations, so that every food company is aware of what these changes will bring them.

Where does Microsoft add value with Dynamics 365 for Finance & Operations (D365FO)? 

  1. D365FO has the width and depth of the on-premise applications AX2009 and AX2012; customers can continue to benefit from its full potential, including functionalities in the cloud. In addition, new functionalities are continuously added.

  3. Microsoft offers a complete tool for life cycle management with self-service capabilities, in order to easily manage your Finance & Operations environment. 
  4. To continuously improve the application, they work with 'NPS driven development', where users have the opportunity to give feedback. 
  5. Microsoft offers a Customer Success Service that helps customers roll out the application successfully by accelerating implementation and helping users through best practices and guidance. 
  6. Customers can benefit from the entire platform, including Power Apps, Flow, Power BI and AppSource, where they can get the most out of their ERP solution with low code no code capabilities. 

What's new and improved in Dynamics 365 for Finance & Operations? 

The Dynamics 365 for Finance & Operations October release has 55 new and improved capabilities. A selection of the possibilities include:

  • Significant improvements have been made to user-friendliness, performance, compliance and support, which improve the experience and productivity of the end-user. 
    • Increase productivity on your daily tasks by easily highlighting filters, saving, sharing and optimized display of data. 
    • The speed and accuracy of data entry has been improved by the ability to add and remove columns from grids, and to hide fields. 
    • Performance improvements in the WMS. 
    • Use the Regression Suite Automation Tool to reduce the impact and cost of updates on D365FO. 
    • Worldwide coverage has been further expanded so that customers with offices in UAE and Russia can also use D365FO here and make use of support. 
    • Customers can now use a single regulatory configuration service to support different versions of Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations and Microsoft Dynamics AX. This service offers users a no-code approach to easily configure to changing legal requirements for reports, invoicing, payment formats and tax rules. 
  • Microsoft has a strong focus on Intelligence and Insights, so that customers can use it real-time to proactively run their business and grow globally. 
    • It offers the possibility to edit analytical workspaces, easily make local adjustments without needing developers.
    • Users have the possibility to expand analytical workspaces by adding external data with Power BI. 
    • Complete insight into your business, by combining your own data via Azure Data with the best features. 
    • Power BI reports and the product itself are updated in real-time. 
  • Seamless 'common-data-service-based' process integrations are offered to unleash intelligent business processes between the customer and the financial operation. 
  • Improvements are being made for Finance, Production, Retail and Supply Chain.
